La Galleria FuoriCampo è lieta di presentare venerdì 1 maggio la mostra “To be titled” la prima personale di João Freitas (Coimbra, 1989) in Italia. L'esposizione propone le ultime produzioni dell'artista che vive e lavora a Bruxelles realizzate con tecniche e materiali poveri sui quali conduce una ricerca sul limite fra la realtà fsica e spirituale. Curiosità, pratica ed esperienza, quasi un esercizio di meditazione, un'ascesi che conduce però alla corporalità della fattura e alla realtà efettuale dell'elemento, alla composta scomposizione dei costituenti, dalla piega al brandello, dallo strappo all'assemblaggio, dalla fgura all'immagine.

Un'analisi che non contempla dove si conduce, e agita se stessa sulle potenzialità ed i confni del materiale. Una cieca e ostinata disciplina quotidiana che esalta la versatilità della carta come luogo d'origine e di approdo, come argomento sviscerato e mai esaurito.
Il fatto, l'oggetto, diventa mutamento e trasfgurazione, tensione obbligata al non se('); il suo completamento in opera d'arte è la decisione di un termine - limite, luogo e verbo - che appaga. Oltre alle opere realizzate appositamente per la mostra di Siena, frutto di una residenza condotta nella città lo scorso autunno e nei quali è possibile rinvenire alcuni tòpoi della cultura fgurativa senese, saranno esposti i lavori che sintetizzano la metodologia propria e la tensione espressiva dell'artista.

FuoriCampo Gallery is pleased to present a new exhibition on Friday 1 May. “To Be Titled” is the first solo show by João Freitas (Coimbra, 1989) in Italy. The exhibition will show the latest works by the artist, who lives and works in Brussels. The works are made using simple techniques and found materials, which the artist explores in a way that combines the physical world and the spiritual dimension. There is curiosity, expertise and experience, akin to an exercise in meditation. However, the sense of spiritual detachment always leads to the embodiedness of workmanship itself, and to the actual reality of the element, and the composed decomposition of the constituent parts, from a fold to a torn shred, from a rent to the act of putting things together, and from figure to image.

This analysis does not contemplate where the work leads, and it occupies an uneasy position with reference to the potential and the boundaries of the material. A blind, obstinate daily discipline that highlights the versatility of paper as a place of origin and of arrival, as a subject that is profoundly investigated, but never completely exhausted.

A datum, the object, becomes change and transfiguration, tension that is bound up with the non-self; its completion in the form of a finished work of art marks the decision of an ultimate state – as limit, place and term – that is fulfilling.
As well as the works created especially for the Siena show, the products of a residence in the city in autumn last year, and in which it is possible to identify a number of tòpoi of Sienese figurative culture, works will also be displayed that sum up the artist's own particular methodology and expressive tension.
